Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about HostClaw and managed hosting for the OpenClaw ecosystem.
- What is HostClaw?
- HostClaw is a managed hosting platform for the OpenClaw ecosystem. You can deploy and run Clawdbot, Moltbot, and OpenClaw without managing servers yourself. We handle infrastructure, scaling, and updates so you can focus on your community or product.
- What do I need to get started?
- You need an account (email and password), a Gemini API key for AI features, and a Discord bot token if you're hosting a Discord bot. We guide you through setup in the onboarding flow. Other platforms (e.g. Telegram, Slack) are coming soon.
- How do I create a Discord bot and get a token?
- See our step-by-step Discord setup guide. You’ll create an application and bot in the Discord Developer Portal, enable Message Content Intent, then add the bot to your server using an invite link. Paste your bot token (and optional Application ID) into HostClaw during onboarding. Never share your token publicly.
- Where do I get a Gemini API key?
- You can get a Gemini (Google AI) API key from Google AI Studio (aistudio.google.com) or Google Cloud. Sign in, create or select a project, and generate an API key. Paste it into HostClaw when configuring AI in onboarding.
- Is my API key and bot token secure?
- We store your keys and tokens securely and use them only to run your bots and services. We do not share them with third parties except as needed to provide the service (e.g. calling Gemini or Discord APIs). See our Privacy Policy for details.
- Can I use Claude or OpenAI instead of Gemini?
- Right now we support Gemini for AI. Support for Anthropic (Claude) and OpenAI is planned; you'll see these options in the UI as "Coming soon."
- What happens if I leave during onboarding?
- Your account is saved. When you log in again, you'll be taken back to onboarding so you can continue from where you left off. Your progress (e.g. saved API key or Discord token) is stored per account.
- How is billing handled?
- Payment is currently placeholder (mock checkout). Real billing via Creem or another provider will be introduced later. You'll be notified when paid plans are available.
- How do I delete my account or data?
- Contact us at hostclaw@starlinetechnologies.co to request account or data deletion. We will process your request in line with our Privacy Policy and applicable law.
- Where can I get help or report issues?
- Use the contact or support link on our website, or email hostclaw@starlinetechnologies.co. For status updates, check the Status link in the footer.
